Comet Neowise was visible in the night sky in July 2020. Several mmembers of the group took the opportunity to take photographs.
Rod Jenkins's images of Comet Neowise
These three images were taken by Rod Jenkins on the night of the 16th/17th July 2020 from Churchyard of the Church of St Arilda.
- The first image was taken on July 17th 2020 00:03 Canon 22mm f/4.5 6 seconds ISO 6400.
- The second image was taken on July 16th 2020 23:39 Canon 70D 100mm f/4.5 4 seconds ISO 1600.
- The third image was taken on July 16th 2020 23:38 Canon 70D 100mm f/4.5 4 seconds ISO 1600. This image was then then grossly brightened to reveal the ion tail.

Roger Steer's image of Comet Neowise
Taken on July 16th 2020 at 23:39 BST. Roger used a Canon EOS90D fitted with a 100-400mm f/5.6 Canon L lens. The exposure was 4 seconds at ISO 6400.






Bill Beere's images of Comet Neowise
These images were taken on Saturday July 11th.
The first image shows Comet Neowise with St Arilda. It was taken at 22:42 UT (23:42 BST) from the Cowhill road south of St Arilda Church. Bill used a FUJIFILM XT-2 with 100mm lens. The church was exposed at ISO 1600 for 4sec at f/5.6. The comet was composed of 28 separate frames to increase the sensitivity The images were then combined using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 9.
The second image was also composed from 28 separate images. It shows the ion tail.

Taken on July 16th 2020, these two shots of comet NEOWISE were taken from the Church of St Arilda (Cowhill) with Oldbury Powerstation in the foreground. They were taken with Canon EOS 6D mk2 fitted with 24-70mm f/4 L IS Lens. At ISO 16000, the exposure was 5 seconds at f/7.
