As our Logo depicts, science is a really broad subject stretching from theoretical physics, through biology and medicine, to Earth sciences and climate change. And then there is Technology: how science is applied to everyday life.
This wide range of topics means everyone can find something with which they are familiar, as well as something to stretch their minds. This is matched by our wide range of enthusiastic speakers drawn from our own numbers.
So, whether you consider yourself a boffin or just an interested layperson come along and see what is on offer. (...and, ladies, no this is not a male preserve; 30% of our audience are women.)
September will be a talk on Superconductivity; the scientific surprise of the early 20th century that still can't be fully explained.
October is Extraordinary Aviators; the stories of three pioneering women pilots who pushed the boundaries of aviation science and technology.
November is Keeping cool in space; how do satellites manage to keep their sensitive instruments and electronics at just the right temperature?
We meet at The Chantry on the 3rd Wednesday morning of every month (ie the Wednesday between 15th and 21st). 10am for chat and coffee and the talk starts at 10:30. Contact Bob Dale using the link above or by phone for further information.
