The Cycling Group meets every Thursday and we do our best to find new, cycle friendly routes throughout our beautiful area.

Normally, our pattern of activities is that one week we will plan to cycle about 30-40 miles, stop for morning coffee and for a pub lunch and will get back to Thornbury by mid-afternoon; much depends on the weather and the time of year! On the alternate Thursday we have a "morning coffee ride" where we either ride to or meet at a local café within a 10 mile or so radius of Thornbury and get back by lunch time.

We use a WhatsApp group to co-ordinate our rides and chat amongst ourselves. The meeting place and details of all rides are published by the ride leader beforehand. We limit the number on each ride to 12. Most rides start from Thornbury but sometimes we transport our bikes to starting points further afield, e.g. Bitton Station (for the Bristol-Bath Railway Path) or Tetbury.

Our rides are sociable as well as good for your fitness. We ride at a pace to suit everyone and regularly stop to regroup to ensure no one gets left behind. It's a great way to explore the lanes around Thornbury and beyond. Whether you're new to cycling or whether it's years since your rusty old steed came out of the back of the garage, why not give us a try?

Useful information about cycling in general can be found on the Cycling UK web site.
