Membership Eligibility

There is no upper or lower age limit but the u3a is for members who are not in full-time work. As a volunteer run organisation, the members are encouraged to help and participate in whatever way they can.

Excluding trips and outings, we allow a free visit to two different groups as a taster.

How much does membership cost?     

Individual Membership - £6 per annum

This fee secures membership of Thornbury u3a only and does not secure rights to personal use of any facilities or services provided by Thornbury u3a.

As a bonus, for new members applying to join between October though to December, the membership fee covers that period to the end of December of the following year.

Annual renewal for existing members starts 1st January.  

About Gift Aid

Gift Aiding can make each £1 of your subscription worth 25p more to Thornbury u3a at no cost to yourself.  Please gift aid if you can.  Full details of eligibility are shown in the application form.

Where the membership fee is gift aided, gift aid will be claimed on the full amount paid.

Other Charges

Thornbury u3a operates on a “Pay As You Go” basis. Separate charges may apply to participate in some group activities, some events, and outings.
