I hope you are well. I am contacting you on behalf of Forbear! Theatre. Next weekend (30th Nov - 1st Dec) we are bringing two professional Gilbert & Sullivan productions to the Cotswold Playhouse in Stroud, and thought this might be of interest to some of the Thornbury U3A members? The shows we are bringing are the ever-popular 'HMS Pinafore' and the very rarely performed 'The Grand Duke'. When we first presented our production of 'The Grand Duke' in 2018, we were lucky enough to have acclaimed film director Mike Leigh in the audience, who said the following about the show:

“In their hilarious and endlessly inventive production of ‘The Grand Duke’, the Forbear Company bring to Gilbert and Sullivan a unique youthful freshness. This, combined with sophisticated wit and impressive theatrical and musical professionalism, not only breathes new life into this neglected show, but in doing so reveals it to be as funny, anarchic and tuneful as any of its more famous siblings, if not more so.”
